Yes, the readings are 2.6 and 1bout 12,000-13,000 ohms
see http://hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/bvogel/K100/download/bike-wont-start1.htm about half way down the page.

Hi B,
Just to be absolutely clear when you test your coils are you doing it exactly as shown on the picture in the page referred to above? i.e across the two spade connectors for the first reading then across the two high voltage terminals on the two spark plug leads. If so that is good, now is your meter an auto-ranging meter? Sometimes the readings are very confusingly presented and I could see 10.2 Kilohms or 10,200 ohms looking like 10.2 on some meters I have seen. In the illustration one can see the switch for the meter is set to another range hence making it clear the result is in thousands of ohms.
10.2 ohms across the high voltage leads is much too low to generate any useful spark.

Just check the picture on the page matches how you are measuring exactly and your meter range and if you can, verify the meter with a resistor if you have one of about 10k just to see what it displays and come back to us with the result. I am hoping it is a mistake since 10.2 ohms if you are measuring correctly means the coil is u/s and it is open your wallet repeat after me "help yourself" time to a vendor of spare coils.

Is the bike misfiring on that coil? What does the other coil measure out at?Dependant upon the number of digits the meter displays that might be OK. As a confirmation can I suggest you go to an electronic component shop with your meter grab a 10K ohm resistor and check it on the same meter scale, my guess is you will see an answer similar to what you are getting (you probably won't even need to buy the resistor to do the check).

Hi k, thev other coil is reading 10.6 .. . maybe this is one of the problems with my bike, upon starting if you open the throttle or give it choke the extra fuel is maybe blowing out the spark coil readings Icon_question i dont know . . coil readings Icon_arrow will run the coils over to my local auto electrics to see if they can tell me . . im sure they will .if i set the meter to a different setting it just moves the decimal point over . . it is set on the ohms part rite enough . . Thanks again K let you know the auto shops reading coil readings Fresse ill let you get on with practicing the tonga while your waiting coil readings Icon_razz
