Well let me be the first to do the honours - welcome to the best.forum.ever!  So much help here - wish I'd had this back in the day for some of my projects *sigh.

How's the riding over there?  Just heading out through the mountains on Friday for a 4-day camping adventure in the Rockies (east of where I live).

I'm in the middle of British Columbia.

Hello good man!

4 words a fine for a introduction ;-)
Enjoy your rides.

The word Salem comes from Arabic and Jewish words which is Salam in Arabic and Shalom in Jewish.

Salem, nice place

Welcome, ibwillis!
I'm reminded of the Salem cigarette commercial—Don't smoke 'em; sail 'em—although it's possible that wasn't part of a promotion. Laughing

Anyway, what year and model of K do you have?

It is a nice place, Chocolate, but it's a little too far inland in Virginia for rigged sailing ships like the one pictured. I think that image is from Salem, Massachusetts which is also a nice place but was a little uncomfortable for residents accused of being witchcraft practitioners back in the good old early days of its development. Smile

Thanks Laitch!

You are right, wrong place.
Hopefully my navigation doesn't direct me next time to Hanover (New Hampshire) when I'm on my way to Hannover in Germany ;-)

Cheers

Hanover, NH is a pretty good place to land if you're confused, Chocolate. It's an Ivy League college town packed with healthy coeds, craft beer, an excellent hospital if you overdo your fun, and Vermont is right next door.
cheers

Thanks everybody. Salem, Va. is located in southwest Va. in the mountains right outside of Roanoke, Va. (Star City of the South) We have incredible riding in this area.

Right now I'm perplexed with a 85'K100RT that is only running on the #2 &3 cylinders. I jumped the gun and thought it was a coil issue and bought a used one but found out it wasn't the coil. Today will check compression on #1 & 4 cylinders.

Go to your Need Help post in the Repair section and be specific about the bike's problem. Tell how many miles are on the bike, how long you've had it, how many miles you've put on it, what—if any—repair or diagnostic procedures you've done on it and describe in detail its engine's symptoms.

Do that and you should be getting plenty of suggestions on a course of action. Post a couple of photos of the bike, too. Sometimes a question for you will arise just from a good photo, like "What's that under the bike—a pool of fuel?" Laughing

If you haven't already, click on the Portal tab and then click on the Troubleshooting guide. It has diagnostic procedures and illustrated descriptions of many of the engine's systems. There's a lot of useful information within the Portal.
