Hey guys, I'm Arron and I live in the greater Cincinnati area. Picked up my 87 k100rs about a year and a half ago. Had some issues with cooling shortly after I bought it and it overheated (really not a fan of the location of the overflow). At any rate, it's sat in the garage for the last year waiting on some TLC and I figured I better employ the advice of those that have more experience than me.

I suspect your cooling fan is inoperative, a common problem. I'd definitely start there before tearing into the top end as per your other post.  Dry first thing, ensure it spins and isn't seized. Next would be to confirm it spins up with power supplied. These motors are very strong so would look at other remedies before ripping the engine down.
