My K75S in New Zealand was bought over to Australia last month.

First of all I needed a Personal Import Authority from Gov in Canberra.  Few hurdles here as the bikes Vin number was only 11 digits long and in Aust you need 16 digits.  A few weeks went by and I was issued with a new VIN number.  I had to fill out an Asbestos Declaration form to say the bike had no Asbestos then I had to declare that I was not sell the bike for two years once t was in Australia and also declare that I wasn't going to import another vehicle of any type for the next 5 years.  Wow . . . put me through the grill here.

Went to get a Road Worthy ( mobile guy )  showed him the import papers, he then viewed the bike to inform me that I needed a Australian Compliance Plate.  Went to Main Roads who couldn't really help me at the time.

MartinW looked up on line RAWS.   http://raws.infrastructure.gov.au/    They had a list of Companies that will give your bike a compliance check, order a compliance plate from Victoria to be stuck onto the frame of the bike.   The company that I used was NISMO in Virginia.  This took about 5 business days before they called me to say the plate had arrived from Victoria come and get it.  Attached to the bike.  Another hurdle completed.

MartinW organised a workshop day.  Martin and 4 others  (Gary, Mick, Dan and Paul) came around to help sort a couple minor teething problems out in regards to relays, and lights etc.

Organised the Road Worthy guy to come back.  In my opinion, he wasn't all that thorough and had a lot of stories about his biking days - wrote out the paperwork.   That hurdle was completed

I then went to Main Roads gave them all the relevant paperwork, registration was completed, registration plate was issued and now on the bike.

I'm now on the road.    Yah.

( Would like to say a big thanks to MartinW for his help on this one )

Thanks Bruce but it was a team effort. And was well catered for by Bruce's wife Annie who has now spoiled the K-Krew. As long as they don't expect that level of catering every time, we should be OK.
Regards Martin.

Is the Ozzie number plate personalized too? Something to do with Brocky? Coincidence?

I remember importing used to be fussy about exotic seeds in nooks and crannies, requiring super cleaning, dunno if that's still a thing.

Happy days.

Welcome to Australia Bruce, NANNY capital of the world.
Now you have the worst roads to ride with some of the best corners being hogged by tourists in vans. And a highway patrol or speed camera down every straight, around every corner and at the bottom of every hill where you may get a bit of a natural roll on, sad really.

I always heard NZ had some of the most amazing roads to ride, never been able to get there and now with COVID it won't be any time soon for anyone I'm guessing. I do like to read the stories in the magazines though, and the scenery, wow.
