Hi it's Gordon or Ghost, not really a new member but its been so long thought I better "log" in ..

In a difficult period of my life this forum gave me soooo.. much, purpose, drive, inspiration at an awkward time in my life. Despite thinking I was a New Age type of guy, reading here very personal real life stuff which moved me deeply, I have been unable to reach out to you in the same way because of stiff upper lip type male... whatever its called.... bullshit is close.

This is such a supportive community that I can only say sorry for not helping these last few years

Welcome back Ghost.

Good to hear that you are sweltering down there in Tassie...up here in the UK, I am taking advantage of working from home as the "Beast from the East" (icy airflow from Siberia) hits the "Pest from the West" (deep low pressure, rain laden weather system coming up from Portugal smash together and dump a whole load (in a UK sense) of snow onto the country. Last time I experienced such weather conditions was in Virginia USA (arctic air flow hit warm wet stuff from Gulf of Mexico) it dumped over 1m of snow (here in the UK, we are more likely to get 10-20cm, but likely to cause just as much disruption as we aren't used to dealing with much more than a hard frost!). I rode into work with temperatures down at -6Deg C earlier in the week...but that was on dry roads. Today with snow on the ground, a strong icy wind and -5Deg C it is definitely not K bike riding weather!

Sorry to hear that you been having a few issues...but you're right, the forum is a great place to find any support you need - both bike wise and psychology wise. I guess that is the benefit of having such a wise and knowledgeable group...there are few problems out there that at least one of us hasn't encountered (bike, health or emotional). What ever it is/was...good luck with finding the light at the end of the tunnel and moving forward.

Thank you Charlie, Tom and Gaz for kind words and I too remember our brief, at times, meetings with the fondness of having an awesome ride then being welcomed by special guys bonded by these aluminium steel and plastic machines. As i said earlier, this forum was my saviour for those years and at times I was a contributer so wish to be again giving 10 cents worth 'cos I know it's been worth a dollar reading your stories.

Maybe since getting the free windows 10 I have a disability loading photos, the most recent search of How to post pics does not help me, bear in mind I was pretty good at it once. Help please.

Ghost

Ghost

Is good to see you back.

I am another who has found the forum to be much much more than just a forum. One can talk or not talk as one feels comfortable with but one thing for sure is in some ways we are all as odd as two left feet, individual as they come but with a shared interest in Ks.

I have lots of other interests outside Ks....one in plants and formal gardens I share with Sgmayhew, art with Ringfad and a nice side trip to Ardglass, one on camping and water I share with 88, another in audio with a certain Charlie down your way, another in classical music and roses I share with a very rarely seen member in Colorado who may be coming to K Fest [any more Mahler lovers here?], another in ancient places I share with BobT in France, another in sailing I share with Indian036 in Au...the list goes on and is quite amazing.

So, Ghost, when times feel better for you.....we would love to get you here!!

Well, this is all the things that I wanted to say in my little write up about the forum's 10 years anniversary post but I didn't want to be the one writing it.
I preferred to have people expressing their personal feelings about this group and you and others on this post  are the perfect example of what we can bring to each other's: Friendship and comprehension.
Ghost, I wish you good luck.

Bert

Thank you Bert for agreeing with me on Born Agains words They certainly summed up the forum for me, simply but eloquently. I have heaps of catching up to do reading posts etc but in the meantime I hope to update a couple of my threads  with the aim of entertaining but including a dark story as well. I'm sure the later will be beneficial to me in the telling and am confident that you will embrace it as part of life and and give me courage just as if you diagnosed a tech for the mighty K.

I probably should leave the new member intro soon but here's one to laugh at me.

I am an avid compulsive reader and after discovering K100 forum (via brief time on Flying Brick also excellent) I soaked up virtually every post, every electrical, frame and, motor/gearbox, gearbox, renovations restorations even "cafe" and not forgetting lots of off topic, social and humour.

As a bear of little brain a fair bit is stored up top, and this tale is about an easy one to remember, the rest may just be a vague memory of the topic and... search, click... no... click... no... click Yeah got it!!!! Problem solved due to the awesomeness of this forum resource. I know I'm preaching to the converted but we can't get complacent and undervalue everyones contribution not just in the tech field. There must be 1000's of never registered log  ons who found the answer to there fault and didn't need to become a member because the Knowledge is freely given and in the case of a question being asked there is an almost aggressive contest (in a nice way) to be the one to provide the solution or cheapest option or.... and get this... GIVE you the part.

I digress, I know a shitload 'bout 'den K's and what I don't is a click or a question. I know all about the cooling fan, bearing seizure through lack of use, ironically 'cos the cooling system is very good especially here in Tassie and being rural to boot. I know to fit a manual o/ride switch with a pilot light.... I have known the above for some years, yes years. Next time I take the tank off was always the mantra. Start chuckling now guys, 6 or so weeks ago 36 degrees C I go to the big smoke, you know? traffic lights? lunch time peak hour, just into it and temp light comes on, oh dear but next 6 lights are timed and should be able to keep moving... airflow. Not this day, normal straight thru every green became stopped twice, second stop I leaned right to look down and green shit spilled down my jeans scalding me. Being a hot day I had drinking water in the bag and she took nearly 500mil after bubbling her head off I poured into the overflow tank and she drew it in as she cooled.. fantastic.. didn't have to pull the tank off. got home blah blah spare fan motor no harm done. Preparation prevents piss poor performance.

This happened 2 days before christmas 17

Not really a new member 20171210

poor photo considering the 50 km ride to clock that was meant to be iconic scenic Tasmania and my only defence is that 4 kms before that pic I got pulled for exceeding the posted....." you were doing 120kph" "ahh good my speedo is spot on!!!" Only a warning 'cos i been a good boy for a few years, they are good like that here, but ...

I mean BUT, get caught again in the next couple years and you go for both!

Cheers for now Ghost

Thanks for checking in, Gordo. There have been several previously frequent posters who haven't been around much lately. We all have our reasons and I too have had to take a break for some much-needed down time over the past years. I'll be back 'home' in October and if at all possible it'd be good to catch up with you and other forum members.

Here's a flash from the past. Araluen weekend back in the day.
