Does anyone know if these are made and sold or do I have to rig something on my own.My mirror fell off the other day after hitting a series of bumps in the road and was dangling by the electrical wire .I'd like to have something better so I don't lose them when this happens again.

They are made as a generic item but if you know any rigging or sailing places they would make them very easily out of old halyard wire. Any dinghy sailing friends might well have the swaging tool for doing their own rigging repairs. Should be some near you, we know New York was home of the Americas Cup until those Men at Work guys took it down under way back....

Classic car guys might have them for repairing window regulators. Just because windows went electric, they still use the same technology inside the doors but replaced the hand winder with a motor.

Motorworks do sell them but by the time they are posted ouch.

Go to a shop that sells fishing gear.  The best will be one that caters to the guys who make their own lures and tackle, but most will have what you need.

Ask for plastic coated braided stainless leader.  25# test should be good.  Make sure it is braided and not solid wire.  Get some of the crimp sleeves that are used for making loops in the end of the leader.  A couple feet of leader and a pack of sleeves shouldn't cost more than $5.  The sleeves are crimped with needle nose pliers.

Stay away from the yacht chandlers.  That's where the millionaires shop.

They make them out of snapped halyards off kids sailing dinghies, but yes the fishing shop is a much better idea.

Easy enough to do , I made mine from 2-3 mm elastic shock cord , attach to mirror on one side , thread through to other side and attach again , most outdoors / camping stores sell shock cord

Thanks to all who replied .I had a feeling I'd be making my own so now I have all the ideas and tips I need to do it. Now that the weather is starting to warm up I'll be riding her lots more so I'd like to get this solved . Can't wait for my first long ride to some place a few hundred miles away ! I'm loving this bike the more I ride her. Ed

+1 on stainless fishing leaders.  I cut the swivels off since you only really need that for fishing.
