I had my 1987 K75s apart for the better part of the winter replacing the main seal, and spline repair.  The bike was up on a box tilted forward.  After the job was finished and back on level ground I seem to be getting a small amount of coolant from the weep hole.  I had rebuilt the pump less than 1,000 miles ago and was fine.

Could having the bike in that position for so long allowed coolant to go somewhere that it normally doesn't?

Did you do anything to the cooling system(drain, remove hoses, etc.)?  Is it possible the coolant is coming from somewhere else?  A loose hose above the block leaking and the coolant running down the front of the engine.

When I replaced the coolant temperature sensor some coolant leaked out at the change-over and settled on top of the engine block near to where the sensor is fitted. There are raised ribs in the engine casting for strength which can act as a trap for spilled coolant. I thought I had a leak until I found the trapped coolant and I mopped it up. Worth a quick inspection - an added bonus might be you find some small thing that fell off when doing an earlier repair - eg nut.

don't worry about it just yet , but keep an eye on it
possibly just a corrosion weep until it gets heat expansion a few times and good few turns of the motor ...take it a hundred miles  a few times and review .

Thanks for the reply's guys.  I did have to drain the coolant so that I could replace the cylinder head gasket but the drip was there before draining.  After the first start up (and hoping nothing was going to blow up) and letting the motor warm up I got another small drip.

Went for a nice 100 mile ride yesterday as I needed inspection and scrub in new tires.  When I got home she was dry as she should be.  I'm very happy and always amaze myself when I complete a job with out screwing things up to badly.  You were spot on Charlie99.

I did pass the BarBill yesterday Point-Seven-Five.  Only a few Harleys parked outside.  Being semi-retired I get to ride on Fridays when everyone else isn't in a hurry to get to where they want to go.

Thanks again,

Jim

Hey, let me know when you want to meet up for a Beef on Weck and a beer at the Bar Bill.  I'm free on Fridays too.
