Hello Guys

I'm a little confused on the tighten of the fly wheel centre nut

Step 1  tighten to 140 Nm  ( understand )
Step 2  back off till lose  ( Understand )
Step 3  tighten to 50Nm  ( is that all ??? )
Step 4  Rotate to 50 Deg  ( I dont understand ??? )

That means you turn the nut a further 50° after it has been tightened to 50Nm. All I have ever done is hit it with the rattler to 90ft/lb then slack it off then take it to 50 which is setting 1.5 on my rattler and then turn it about 1/8th turn. Never had a problem.

The head bolts are done the same way and many of the big diesels the rod bolts are done by measuring the stretch of the bolt with a micrometer.
