I've been searching the net for footpeg lower kits and I can find lots for newer BMW's but nothing for the old girls. Will the kits for the new bikes fit our old darlings?

the k1200 and a few newer versions connect the foot peg via a bolt through the side plates  and then either go up , down etc

the k100 series have cast pivot locations into the sideplate , I guess if you were to grind those off ...you could possibly fit an appropriate location bolt and go from there .

but an issue may be that the sideplate thickness will be too thin  to properly take the weight of a foot peg and rider at the new location

beware the k1200 foot peg mount kits are notoriously expensive

maybe best option might be to make an adaptor plate  out of something seriously decent in size ...perhaps 8 -10mm  aluminium   with 2 sets of mount holes .. the first set of holes for the standard gearbox mounts , the second set of holes for the new location of the entire footplate - and footpeg

just a heads up

plan with parts in hand  before you cut or grind

cheers

The original question is, in my opinion, quite bizarre. Before asking a question like this I would google a picture of a newer BMW and compare what I see to my bike. It would be easy to see that they are completely different.
As it was my 60th birthday yesterday perhaps I am just being a grumpy old man.  Rolling Eyes

My question is why would you want to lower the pegs? They'll just scrape on turns.

If the problem is that you're too tall, and your legs are cramping up? If so why not raise the seat? As stated by lowering the pegs you will definitely reduce your cornering clearance.

Regards Martin.

Not only move the seat up but back as well. I have a Russell seat on my LT that does both and works well for my 34" inseam.

When I lowered my seat as per Duck I also lengthened the riders seat. As consequence it did shorten the passenger seat. But as I very rarely carry a pillion it doesn't matter and gives me more choice of movement.
Regards Martin.

I found this site on ergonomics:

Cycle-ergo.com. Hip angle is an issue for me especially on the K1 .

After trying many bikes on the site my LT with the bar risers and set back was top of the list.
