Hi all,

As stated in the title, there will be a ride in and near the Snowy Mountains again next March. Not much flexibility available in the dates, as my daughter and family from France will be with us before then, and the NSW state election is on the following weekend. I hope to be running a polling place again with a view to funding more K100 fun.

Jindabyne caravan park has been a good and convenient venue, so the first thought is to base there again. However apart from the date, everything is up to the collective wisdom and wishes of the Krew.

All welkome, and any international visitors who may be able to join us are especially welkome.

Bill

I'm keen to come down for a ride if you don't mind me showing up on the Scharnhorst Triumph. I doubt the K bike will be on the road by then at this rate.

Scharnhorst not welcome, but maybe Gneisenau OK. 😉
Given the origin of Triumph, maybe HMS Duke of York even better. 😊

Be good to have you along. 😀

Now that the new year is on us, time to bring this back up.

No alternative suggestions, so unless they come quickly, I'll assume NRMA Jindabyne Holiday Park (same as before) will be the venue.  https://www.nrmaparksandresorts.com.au/jindabyne/accommodation-and-sites/

Please coordinate with me (this thread or PM) for camping (unpowered site). Cost will be $15 per person per night. I'll organise booking and payment, and you can reimburse me at the park.
Assuming I can get them, camping sites will be around the #70s on the park map, as before. Close to camp kitchen.  https://www.nrmaparksandresorts.com.au/jindabyne/park-info/park-map/

For those wishing more luxury such as cabins etc. please make your own bookings on the site above, and let me know that you have booked.

Bill

I'm out this year.
My nasty companion has returned.
It has spread to my left lung.
It always seems to appear after Smithy's "Northern ride" in November.
I start 2 months of radiation treatment next week.
That will be followed by immunotherapy starting mid March.
So I won't be riding for some time.

Change of Plan.

Hi all,

There's a conspiracy afoot. You may remember that I explained the proposed date partly with reference to my expectation of working on Saturday 23 March running a polling place for the state election. The best laid plans of mice . . .
As it turns out, just this morning, I found I won't be running a polling place on the 23rd. I'll be running a pre-poll voting centre for the two weeks prior to the election!
Better for the K100 fun fund, but I wouldn't be able to get to Jindabyne till the Saturday afternoon.

Options:

  1. Continue as planned, with the absence of the original organiser for Friday evening and the ride. For the sake of anyone who has already made plans based on the published dates, this is probably the best option. Not a lot of people have publicly announced their intentions, but the grapevine suggests more have planned to come than announced it. I'm sure someone can herd the cats on the Saturday.
  2. Change the date to 23 March - election day. This would mean that NSW participants would need to vote pre-poll, or absent in Jindabyne on the day.
  3. Change to a date in April, giving more lead time for changes of plans.

Over to the wisdom and wishes of the Kollective.

Bill

Rats!!  I'm programmed to leave Maitland on Thursday, 14th March. Meet up with Gaz, and now Bro Tom and thence RT at Bathurst. Over night at the Irish pub at Boorowa on Thursday night. Down to Gundagai, Tumut, up the hill to Adaminaby and thence to Jindabyne for drinks on Friday night, PLUS sleeping in a CABIN!!! Do a days jolly around the traps on Saturday and take two days to get back home again.

Can't go the following weekend...going up to the Myall for a few days in the caravan, for drinks and relaxation.

April...up to Hawks Nest for a week, 4th - 9th, for drinks and relaxation.
Caloundra, QLD for a week, 18th -25th, for drinks and relaxation.

So, that's it for me.

Rickmeister.

That sounds like a plan I can work with. Missus has taken a few days of work so I won't be game to announce a change. She will joining us in a tin top convertible (read beermobile) and doing the whole trip with lid down.
See you all at Boorowa, and Bill if you come, at Jindy.

All OK, Rickmeister. Not wonderful for me with the change of work plan, but as I suggested, leaving the date the same is probably the best option, given that some plans have been made.

For me, it would mean missing out on the Kameraderie of Friday night and the Saturday ride, but would be able to catch up with the Krew for Saturday night, so I wouldn’t miss the Kompany entirely.

The extra work above what was expected might even help pay for my next catch-up with Olaf. Very Happy

Bill

there is a chance that a friend of mine may be able to join the Krew, but he rides a Suzuki 650 scooter owing to hand damage. Anyone have objections? he gets that thing going like a maniac on small wheels. I can't catch him, but that's not really saying much.

OK, OK,....I've slowed down!!  Anyway, good to see a plan happening.

The Hunter Krew will need to Loffee to set some specifics. I'm off to the Bellarine Peninsula on Sunday for golf, drinks and relaxation. Back on Sat afternoon.

How about Loffee at the usual place (Maitland Information Centre), 09:30, Monday 4th March? Discuss the fine detail then.

Bob (+ friend) Meet at Bathurst or at the Boorowa Irish Pub? I'll make some bookings when numbers are more or less finalised.

Cheers, Rickmeister.

Won’t affect ride/gathering as planned. Only thing is I won’t be able to coordinate kamping as originally stated way back. No one has indicated to me that they’ll be camping yet, so may not be a problem.

What, when I’ve vocally supported fixed terms for the federal elections!

Under the current system where the Prime Minister sets the election date, apart from the absolute term limit, the criteria is always and only: what date gives us the best chance of staying in office? Regardless of who is in office, they shouldn’t have that opportunity to give themselves an advantage over the other lot.
Getting down off my hobby-horse now . . .

Probably meet up at Bathurst on Thursday lunchish if that is still the plan.

I'm still 50/50 on this one. It'll depend on work commitments. I'll make my own arrangements if need be.

Work seems to have a funny habit of throwing obstacles at me around this time of year.  Although this time it is the same silly buggers as Bill, that are the cause.

Hopefully I will have an idea by the end of the week.

Well looks like I am out for another year. I would much rather be going to the Snowy Mountains than the Hospital to get the fungus infection removed from my sinuses. I suppose that putting your foot in your mouth when you got athletes foot will do that.

Lads...slight-ish change of plan.
- Hunter Krew (and others) to meet at the usual Branxton truck stop, departing there at 08:00 on Thursday, 14th March.
- Meet RT at Bathurst Maccas for lunch.
- Travel via Tuena(?) towards Crookwell, thence to Booroowa.
- Overnight at the Irish pub at Booroowa. Big day ahead!!!
- Be rolling by 08:00 on Friday, 15th. Follow Gaz (as he knows where he's going), finishing at Omeo, Victoria, via Mt Beauty, Falls Creek etc.
- Overnight at Omeo, lodgings still to be sorted.
- Depart Omeo, Saturday 16th, head north via Mitta Mitta, Corryong, Khancoban, finish up at Jindabyne for relaxation and drinks. Lodgings still to be sorted.
- Sunday...who knows, who cares??
- I've got to be home by Monday evening, to avoid incurring the wrath of SWMBO.

I will now, after posting this, try to arrange some lodgings.

Cheers, Rickmeister.
