Hi all I have done most of the jobs suggested however ,I removed the 4 screws holding fuel cap in place and tried very hard to remove it STUCK SOLID ,short of a medium crew bar,any tips on this please. Until i get it off i cant change fuel filter etc  ,The tank 18 ltr capacity not 22 as most manuals state, so 1 hase the tank shrunk with age? 
2 are the 7 lte/4ltr warning lights calibrated for all sizes or what ,im stuffed on this one drunken drunken Much knee bending and groveling as usual payment for input  Chatter :M:thanks

Open the cap 90 degrees.  Then smack it sideways with your hand from one side or the other.  If that doesn't work try something a little heavier like a rubber mallet.

Its got a sticky gasket keeping it in place. I know its a sticky gasket because there's one in my shed.

Hi to all,back on the road and HO BUGGER the cut out is still there.Now follow me if poss,low speed cut out ,pull the clutch in fast, engine revs cleanly.Is it possible that the gear position switch might be 
the culprit,or am i missing something scratch

The only thing the gear position switch does is feed the digital gear in the cluster and send power to the start button when in neutral.  It has no impact on operation.

I would be looking at the route of the clutch cable under the tank having an effect on an adjacent wire that possibly has a lose connection/connector or damaged......clutch switch only affects starting, same with gear position indicator switch.

The slight movement of the clutch cable may be 'fixing' the problem so go slowly at it, with gas tank off. It may even be affecting he fuel tank plug connector.
