I started bike fine not sure if I smelled burning, switched off , 10 mins later would not start. Charged battery , still not start, no lights indicators or horn. Instruments lights fine. I rocked the bike in gear and it started and everything worked. Next day was dead would not start. I rocked in gear and it started, everything worked.
Any advice please, have not tried it today .

Relays are in a box within the frame under the seat; you'll notice the fuse box attached to its outside panel. A diagram of relay placement is in this article in the Tech section of the Portal. If it comes down to cleaning the starter, read this helpful tutorial by robmack.

Thanx for the info. Cleaned up the starter motor. Seems to be ok now.
Only problem is I am unable to lift the gas tank up. There are no clips holding it. It moves a little then drops back down. Are there any other things to remove to allow this. All seems very tight

Take a close look with a bright light. The post indicated by the red arrow passes through the rubber grommet on the frame mount. The slot on the post indicated by the green arrow needs to be located below the surface of the mount when the clip engages it. The clip will have its curved lip(as indicated by the arrow in its image) pointing downward when it is pushed into the post's slot. I extract the clip using needlenose pliers. Sometimes the clip needs to be rotated to move the lip to a convenient position.




If the clip is missing from the slot and the post is now stuck to the grommet, saturate the grommet's top and bottom surfaces with light oil, silicone spray or penetrant. Push the rear of the tank downward a few times, wiggle it sideways a few time then go have a coffee, tea, or a smoothie containing protein supplement. When you return, try lifting the tank upwards repeatedly. Patience. Don't try to pry it upwards with a lever because you might damage the underside of the tank. You'll be successful, no doubt.

Look, I fully appreciate the benefits of a protein drink, but I would normally go for caffeinated coffee with whisky (or whiskey, I'm totally European). Is that what I'm doing wrong?

In use, especially if the grommets in the frame at the rear of the tank are long gone (common issue...but not an issue), the tank will naturally settle back to the rear. This then makes it harder to lift the tank up so the lugs clear the holes and allow you to lift it back off the rubber mounts that the front of the tank slots on to. 

Using the heel of your hand (or a rubber mallet), give the rear of the fuel tank a good hard thump forwards - it’ll only move by a tiny amount, but this will be enough to stop the tank lugs interfering with the locating holes and you should be able to remove the tank. Obviously, make sure you disconnect the fuel pump plug (rear right of tank) or you won’t get far! If you are taking the tank right off, then, of course you also need to disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the spigots at the front left of the tank.

If the tank doesn't have an air cup under it, the vent and fuel filler water drain hoses may also be holding the tank down, especially if they are hardened from age.

There also might be mice or mole rats holding it down to prevent their young from being disturbed while they rest.

I've seen people hyponotized into thinking things (pens, lighters etc.) are impossibly heavy and are unable to lift them. Do you think this might be the case? Only guessing, like?

Starter motor removed without taking battery out. The tank is moving just out of mounts at rear and thats as far as it goes.

Have you removed the two fuel pipes on the left front? these are not very long and the do restrict the tank movement. when replacing them increase the length so they give more movement.

Well, I'm now wondering if the following true story might give you/the audience a steer...
