I have a slide hammer only with expanding jaw bearing puller attachments.

dropped an m6 bolt through the top of the jaws and drifted it through the expanding end. Added a jubilee clip around the jaws to stop the bolt pulling through. Dozen good whacks with the slide, and what felt like an impossible task 30 minutes ago is now complete.

With thanks as always to those here who gave me pointers.

Alternatively; lots of heat, a good penetrating oil and an 18" pipe wrench.... Mine's still got the teeth marks in it Cool

I've removed plenty of them. Grab it with some pliers and rotate it.  Once you get it turning it comes out fairly easily. (Will leave teeth marks as Dai noted but since it's hidden behind the peg plate who cares?)

If you want to do it without marking it then put some longer bolts in two of the three outer holes and use a cheater bar or whatever to get it turning.
