I'm replacing the fuel hose in the fuel tank.
SAE 30R10 is the specification for the submersible fuel hose.
I'm told that it costs 40 dollars AU PER FOOT (that's 300mm)!

I'll repeat that...40 dollars AU PER FOOT!

What gives? It's hose that's made by Gates Corporation and it's a special order from Melbourne town in Victoria.

How long does this stuff last? I'm assuming that the existing hose is the original (now 24 years old) and that's why I'm replacing it the same time as I'm replacing the fuel filter.

The hose on my filter seemed fine but the breather hose from the gauze on the pump to the top of the tank had broken up. Must be different.
Didn't replace it at the time. Only difference seems to be a whiff of petrol on a warm day sometimes.

Find a source for the German Würth brand of hoses, hardware and chemicals, common to mechanics in Australia and elsewhere. They have a three layer rubber EFI hose that is identical to what BMW use and it costs heaps less than what Bay Em Vay charge through their dealerships. Here is another OZ source for EFI immersible fuel hoses, etc.
