My K1100LT has the common worm-drive clamp to secure the fuel hose to the pipe on the underside of the fuel tank.  That can be frustrating to remove/replace.  Is there any reason why that cannot be replaced with a spring-type clamp?  Has anyone actually done that?

BR worm drive clamps are not recommended for use on fuel lines especially the submerged lines. They increase the risk of the hose delaminating. It is recommended that you use EFI hose clips which are the ones with the captured nut and bolt. They are hard to get in OZ most auto shops don't stock them in the correct size. I get mine from a motor sport specialist shop.

Spring clamps are not suitable for high pressure application. Go with Martin's suggestion or invest in some quick-connect fittings. What's the frustration?

I used the incorrect terminology.  My bike has the clamp you describe/show.  My question is: can I safely use one of these?

The frustration is accessing the forward hose on the tank's underside.  It requires a very long screw driver and a very steady hand.  I have one of the two....   Rolling Eyes

Would a very long nut driver work for you?  I don't currently have one but I have thought that it might make the chore a lot easier.  My K75 project will be getting the disconnects per Laitch's suggestion.

As per Laitch spring clamps can = BAADA BOOM. Use only EFI clips with either a screwdriver or nut driver or you could try a flexdriver. There are various types, prices and configurations

Even the quick connects still require the use of EFI clamps.

They have got o-rings in. It's a 'push to connect, push to disconnect' job. Might even be a 'twist' in there somewhere. I have my air lines connected in a similar way.

Long enough to get access to e.g. the radiator filler works well. Long enough to get access to e.g. the relay box just results in lots of kinked hose DAMHIK  Very Happy

Not necessary for K1100s. They come from the factory with much longer fuel lines than the 2V Ks.  You can pull the tank back much farther without having to disconnect.

I wouldn’t buy them anyway, longer fuel lines are better.

Besides, Wiener Schnitzel ist made from calf, otherwise it has to be called Wiener Art! Most of the Schnitzel are Wiener Art and from Pig.

Weiner must mean calf then, Still the pic look for all the world like a chicken Schnitzel. How does one know what's inside?
Longer lines and the front one insulated up near the radiator, just to make it harder to handle.

The other problem with worm drive is that if you overtighten the clamp the teeth can either deform or  partially strip. This might not be evident until they finally let go which can happen while riding. The cheaper brand worm drive clamps should be avoided especially when used on EFI, however the problem can occur with any brand. In OZ the nut and bolt hose clips are called EFI hose clips for a reason.

Thing is not to add too much...I did this a few years ago and posted in the forum, it works very well but too much will cause that.
