that just happened to be connected to each other by this 30K mile 1998 K1200RS taxi cab.  I've always lusted after a K12 with this color scheme but I was able to "steal" this bike for a good price since it has an oil leak and clutch that's starting to slip. It's got some other minor issues too but it has Ohlins front and rear with a Remus exhaust so I'm quite happy with my purchase. It's certainly a project bike but once I put a few hours and $$$ into it I think it'll be worth it.

I too have recently obtained a new set of K12 wheels (free, take 'em away), attached to yet another red bike - despite the obvious, not even my favourite colour.
Just under that right hand side fairing panel is a hole in the 'crank cover' where a vital bit poked through, but fear not, for I have a later year K12 motor just sitting around like a lout looking for something to do.

What seat is that? Looks like two pieces.  (Mine came with a crappy Corbin with a hole in it and the OEM seat.)

I gather a PO of yours really liked roundels given the extra ones on the peg plate and final drive. Rolling Eyes

Mine has PIAAs too that somebody hid inside the fairing.  They don't work but I can hear the relay click when I turn the switch on. I haven't taken anything apart yet but I'd guess that somebody forgot to hook up the Pin 30 power to the relay when they replaced a battery.

You wouldn't happen to have a spare left system case, would you? For some reason mine only came with a right one. (But at least it's just black plastic and not painted yellow so it should be easier to find one.)

The passenger portion of the seat has an abs plastic cover over it, similar to an R1100S cowl - otherwise it's the usual single seat.
I don't have a spare system case for this model, but several sets of early K panniers in the Type 1 variety. Yeah, Roundel crazed for certain! I'd not have done that, and fortunately they slice off with ease using the slender force of a sturdy length of fishing filament. This one has the K1200GT rear wheel - both F & R powdercoated in black - so it can more easily spin the 180mm tyre rather than the stock 170.
The tyres it's shod with are a bit dated, but with near-new tread on them. It has been stored in a dry shed for three or four years. I know he didn't treat the oxygenated/ethanol fuel in the tank so I'm in for a bit of work there.

Goof Off is very good at removing sticky goo without damaging paint. It works well when I replace roundels on my tanks.

Good thing I've got a spare main wiring loom. Someone let the smoke out of this one.

Good one, Duck! It reminds me of one of those Darwin Award stories from several years back, the veracity of which cannot be proven, but it's funny as bugger anyway.

As it goes, three good ol' boys are driving and drinking in their pickemup truck on some back roads, shootin' at this 'n' that, when a fuse blew under the dash on the driver's side. Not having any replacements they had an idea to stick a 22 caliber bullet into the fuse holder and continue their journey. Upon crossing a steel bridge the "fuse" of course had heated up and went bang, firing its projectile straight into the crotch of the inebriated driver, who promptly steered the truck through the bridge's railing and straight into the water below. The truck ended up upside down in the murky brown drink where they were all found drowned by a passerby some time later.

That's cool Duck  Cool . I wouldn't mind trying one of those but enough projects on. They are starting to drop in price here too but some seem to have unrealistic expectations.
