Hi, I've dipped into this forum for a number of years for info, it's quite a rich resource, finally decided to join. I ride a 1985 K100RT, purchased new in the spring of 1986 in Toronto, Canada. I was 29 when I bought it, and I'll be 64 in a few weeks. I always said that the beemer would outlive me, or we'll go together. I've been riding bikes for over 55 years, raced in various types of competitions, and I was a professional motorcycle mechanic for 10 or more years. I rebuilt the engine in my k-bike 2 years ago, after the rivets in the shock absorber on the engine output shaft finally let go. It's now running like new, only better, as I balanced the engine when I was in there, vibration is much better. Looking forward to swapping stories and info with everyone.

Around 250,000 km. The original speedo quit working around 107,000 km, I drove it for 2 1/2 years with a dead speedo, the new one has about 120,000 KM on it. I average 7 to 8,000 km per season, as I live in Northern Canada, and bike season is always less than 6 (sometimes 5) months. The rest of the time we have to ski.

There's quite a few of us running that sort of mileage. My Alaska Blue RS is up at about 176,000Km (110,000 miles).

Hi and welKome!

The Soo eh?  That's the place that I would still call home but I left there in 1982 when the recession hit.  All my family still lives there and I would love to move back but I married a southern girl and she won't consider it.  Crying or Very sad I'll have to keep my eyes open for another K next time I'm up your way.
