Hi guys!

I've had my '84 K100 for three years now and i' m really happy with it. It was an RS but the driving position was awful for a shorty like me. I swapped in a higher handlebar and got rid of the fairings. I now have a normal K100 radiator cover. I never seem to be content with the bike and always keep tinkering something. I have adventure tires on my bike and like to take it on gravel roads. I'm now waiting for a longer K1100 rear shock to try. I'm not able to flatfoot even with the original though...

I like cafe racer style and would like to do something like that to the rear end, but i want to keep the two-up capability and possibility for luggage boxes.

Considering all that i really should get a GS, actually a R1200GS is my dream bike but for now it's outta my budget...

First welcome here, man from Finland!

I’m not sure using a rear shock from a 4v for a 2v is a good idea. The angle for the drive shaft will change and that’s not good for the joint.
3cm more, 2Vs 350mm, compared to 4Vs 380mm.

Cheers from Germany

Well people seem to use them a lot with scrambler builds without problems. I got the shock and tried it out. It got a little too high for me and both the sidestand and centre stand would need some mods to still be reliable. I decided to put the old one back. If i ever decide to make some more serious build, i'll think of it again...

Welcome!  I've got an 09 1200GS and an 87 R65 too.  The K bike is a nice complement to them.  I recommend getting both!

Hi Teuski,

do you know what handlebars you used.

welcome to the forum.
Thank you,

This is what i have:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292055420754

I'm planning to try raising it with 55mm risers but i need to get a longer brake hose.
I already moved the lunchbox more backwards and up by mounting the base to rearhandlebar bolts. I would have put it even more backwards on top of the handlebar mount but there is that reinforcement bar blocking the way.

Since the first pic i moved the headlight more up and tried on a little headlamp fairing. The shows it somehow. I'm waiting for a slimmer LED headlight unit to be able to move the fairing more to the rear so that it would fit flush with the lunchbox and hide it. Now that i think about it it would be much like the standard K100 fairing but without the HUGE indicators Smile I had that on in gold color before...

Any comments on the color of the bit? Should i keep it black or paint it gold like the rest of the bike?
Actually that color is not 100% what i like. I was expecting more copper than gold but it turned out very different from the color on the can Smile

To me, that looks fine in black. I like the main colour too.
