My K75 was sluggish when starting so I put my battery on my charger.  It started and I rode a couple of miles, stopped for gas and when I tried to start it it was totally dead.  I tried to jump start it but nothing.  I took the battery and had it checked and was told it was bad so I replaced it.  It was almost 5 years old.  Put the new battery in and it still would not start and headlight would not come on.  But now when I tried to start it I could hear the starter click.  I tapped on the starter and it fired right up.  But now when I turn the ignition switch and the kill switch on the headlight doesn't light like it always did before and it won't start.  I have not reviewed the electrical schematic yet so my question is this: Does the headlight tie into the starter or is this an indication of some bigger problem than my starter?

Thank you.

Check if all lines are connected to the battery, and charge the battery first.

Sounds to me that new brushes are needed in the starter
