Ended up with 3 runners this morning, Martin 75 hybrid, Paul 100LT and my RS. We were determined to finally crack the loop from Woodforde to Bellthorpe to Maleny without misadventure. The group has had several previous attempts at this route which did not go to plan  e.g 20km of motocross dirt forestry trails, missing the turn and going somewhere else and on one noted occasion  a rider departed in disgust at our navigational/organisational efforts.

kicked off at Old Petrie Town and headed back across Samsonvale road and Bullocky's Rest through to the Samford Dayboro road into Dayboro for a coffee. Over Mt Mee to Daigular Hwy into Woodforde, got the right tunoff on the Kilcoy-Beerwah Rd and took the Bellthorpe turnoff. Went right instead of left at Bellthorpe and rolled into Maleny to Mary Cairnscross Park for a break and a bullshit. Good windy roads, largely empty, but narrow with lots of tight turns and 1 or 2 switchbacks.

Came back the way we went except took the Neerum rd exit at Woodforde and took the back roads (with a bit of dirt to keep Martin happy) and came out Delaneys Creek on the Mt Mee road. Stopped for a bite at the Pit stop then made it home down the mountain via Dayboro.

Great days riding with good company. All  3 K's sang the way through the day with no technical dramas.

Finally cracked the Bellthorpe Maleny loop Maleny11

one of my favourite runs up there ,
glad you found it, at last

you havent found the track over "clear mountain road " yet ?

turn right on the sampford to dayboro road at Eatons crossing road , then about 4 k or so take the turn left at clear mountain road ...obviously , some good views from up on top there ...then follow the road through and turn left  then right back onto the samford - dayboro road ,,,, an added vision of good things along the way to dayboro ...
cheers from down here

Thanks for the tip Charlie, will definitely do that one next time I head out Dayboro way. Are you gracing us with your presence at the Imbil rally?

Matt - While I was quite pleased that I remembered the Delaney's Creek back road that you and Dan took us on last time, I think that it is wiser if you lead the Imbil run. Following me can lead to disappointment, disillusion and despair.

See you in a couple of weeks.

wish i could Mick , still maybe able  to  , but plans have been changed for this old goat , likely heading back to a workplace some time soon , as soon as folks can get their act together , was supposed to start at a local job some 2 weeks ago ,    still waiting ....

ill have a look at the covid requirements to enter queensland in anticipation

cheers

if i dont get to make it ,apologies in advance

have a great time up there ,

ps , those trail tires on old gerty are just about to hit the canvas on the rear , well a good deal flat across the tread , so havent been too lazy about riding this year. just that the tracks stop about the border , sniffle

Be sure to do the Postmans Track between the Maleny Stanley River Road and Aherns Road the next time you're out that way. It'll really test your suspension: I nearly lost my pillion on the drainage channel/erosion mound combos across the road. All good fun on the bike, but there's a reason why there's massive warning signs saying the road isn't suitable for caravans.

Yes took the boys through that road once
It great to drop it back a gear and give it some

Mick was a bit white knuckle and white faced when he got to the top
