Good Morning All,

I'm cheating here a little by joining the group.  We were previously owners of a K100RS, purchased in 1985 and eventually sold with 110,000 miles as we bought a newer model to fit a Flexit Sidecar to.  The reason being the arrival of a little bundle of fun (or daughter) so we needed 3 seats.

For those of you not familiar with the Flexit, it is a fully enclosed leaning sidecar.  You ride it in the same manner as a solo.

Sadly, we found that the engine vibrations from the K100 carried through to the Flexit, and with the screen closed produced a bad 'body boom'.  Unfortunately, no end of attempts to dampen this failed and eventually we moved to a Honda ST1100 for the sidecar to fit on.  This wasn't without much heart-rending, we loved our K's.

Anyway, to the point of this message.  Courtesy of Covid I have spent a lot more time surfing the net than I normally would and the other night came across a topic on this site referring to the Flexit sidecar.  The member 'DadofHedgehog' was bemoaning the demise of the Flexit Sidecar Owners Yahoo Group.  If he is still a member of this group I can let him know that it has, sort of, been resurrected by one of the previous group's American Members.  It is in a slightly different form, but I know that there are several K100 owners on the site who could perhaps be of help to him.

The link to the new forum is as follows https://groups.io/g/flexitsidecarownersgroup

I hope the owner (and membership) of this site doesn't mind me using it in this way.  Besides, now I know it exists I might just lurk around a while.  We did love our K100RS after all  Cool

If I can, I will stick a photo of our Flexit on the gallery (attached to the K, of course!)

Dear Flexit,

I appreciate the note... I already am a member of the new Flexit group (yeay!). They already helped me locate a replacement Flexit front turn signal :-)

Funny thing about your former K Bike Flexit vibration... my K100RS 4-valver doesn't do that. Maybe it was a gremlin in the mounting hardware?

My K1, with a Panda Liberté Sidecar, is also prone to generate vibrations and complaint from the passengers.
It's logical as the K engine is not rubber mounted, and the chassis of the sidecar is enclosed into the fiberglass body, with no damper in between. Plus the weird effects of vibrations propagation and amplification into complex solids.
I'm planning to swap the sidecar body for an EZS sidecar (idem California sidecars), keeping the excellent chassis but with rubber dampers this time.

I suppose that the 228000 kms on the odometer have also an influence on vibrations...
I noticed also that they were much more sever with a racing Remus exhaust than with a road legal Remus exhaust.
