Brand new battery (AJC ATX20L) from a Canadian Supplier called Battery Clerk.
Battery is 12 V, 18 Ah, CCA 270 A, AGM technology.
Installed in bike 1987 K100 RS, with no ABS and no alarm on bike. Charge topped up with NOCO charger.
Over three days 12.8 V drops to 12.3 V then on day four it is sitting at 10.5 volts! Used a Fluke meter to verify  the reading. Only load on battery would be the BMW digital clock and a digital Voltmeter readout plugged in to the 12 V outlet under the seat.
What am I missing?

Battery is a duff one. It should hold its charge for weeks. There is nothing on a stationary bike that would draw enough current to drain a battery like that. Even having ABS would make no difference.

Take it out of the bike and put a full 12.8v charge on it. Let it sit for a day and check the voltage. Then take it back to the dealer for a load test. That should tell the dealer if the battery is indeed toast.

When fully charged  if you remove a terminal does it still drop in voltage while in the bike ? If so the battery is toast if not the problem is in the bike

Why? If you run the bike then it will put 14v or so into the battery and do the same.

The idea is to see if there is an internal short vs a parasitic load on the the bike that is pulling the battery down. Follow that with a load test at the battery store, and you have an excellent argument for a replacement battery.

Having ABS can make a difference both my K1100 and my wife's K75 had faulty ABS and it was caused by leaky transistors and it was discharging the battery in about 5 days. If all is well then ABS or not there should not be a difference but most of these bikes are around 30 years and these type of electrical problems tend to surface after about 20 years.

Are you saying that the ABS is drawing power when the ignition is switched off? Sounds like something is wrong there.

YES Bob that is what I am saying the ABS unit has switched and unswitched power so a leaky transistor can and will cause the battery to discharge.

Yes I realize that but I was responding to what Bob had said earlier. "Even having ABS would make no difference."

A quick check by sticking a amp meter between the battery positive post and the positive cable/cables running to the bike will tell you if there is leakage with the key off. If there is you can then check fuse by fuse to isolate the circuit that has an issue.

Or at least that is what I do.
