87 k100 sounds normal at start up but after about 1 to 2 minute of idle this whining noise gets much louder. It seems like it's coming from under the fuel tank, and seems way too loud to be normal. I'm new to the bike so I'm not sure of the history. The low fuel light is stuck on, which is on my list of repairs, but it has about a half tank of gas. Not sure if that could be contributing.  Once the noise starts it stays consistent if the bike is idling or reving until it's shut off. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. I tried to upload a video but was unable to.

Fuel pump, the make that noise. Especially if there isn't much gas in the tank. Tank still looks half full after that light comes on. Fill the tank, zero the trip meter and ride it.

As its a new bike to you a wisdom to get a spare fuel pump and filter and have it in your shed.

Mine made that noise after getting low on fuel for a while then it started blowing the fuse to the fuel pump circuit.I replaced the pump and filter ,the noise is gone and I'm not blowing fuses.I'm on my third tank of fuel since the repair and all is well .Be ready to replace that pump before you go too far from home on the bike

Upload the video to YouTube then copy the video's link into the box that comes up when you click the YouTube icon in the toolbar above the message box you use when you make a post.

Find a way to carry the spare fuel pump with you. The one on the bike will then last forever.

That's annoying, all right. Laughing  If you had opened the fuel tank cap while floating the camera, we might have experienced Surround Sound.
