Hi All
I need a new seat for my 83 K100.  I am in New Zealand
The original has rusted out and the foam going to dust.

I have found one on the twinflat site

https://www.twinflat.pt/en/seats-and-seat-bench/860-dual-seat-k100-83-85-metal-base.html

however they do not appear to ship out side mainland Europe, not even to the UK.

They do not list on the official BMW parts list...well not that I can find.

Can anyone help with tracking a new seat complete down or a really good condition second hand one.
Problem with second hand is the foam is going to be 38 years old....

Will a 1985 seat fit? I know the seat handles are different

The seat and the tail cowl profiles changed in September of '85 so fit would depend upon when the donor seat was made. This link is to an example of a seat like yours available in the USA.

The moto with the green box is an '83. It has a seat like yours with the handle bolted onto it. Note the right angled profile of the seam between the tail cowl and the seat.New seat needed for 83 K100 Bmw_k110

The moto with the red box is a late 1985. The grab handle is now bolted to the tail cowl instead of the seat, the tail cowl's forward profile and the seat's rearward profile are slanted. This seat would not work with your moto's tail cowl.

The later seat will physically fit, the lock and hinges are compatible. But the shape of the seat at the rear is different, leaving a gap (I did it years ago) which doesnt look the best.

You could try to find both the later seat and the ducktail. Often not that expensive.

Trick is get the later ducktail and as said they are not expensive. I have picked a couple up over time for small enough money.

The best part about sorting an '86 on seat cowl for an early model - besides subjective looks - and rather than hunting for a 1983 thru '85 seat, is that the seats from then on (bar low versions) will fit that cowl all the way to the end of the K11 models, hence, potentially sound foam and vinyl. Be sure to also obtain the various and different hingey bits potentially needed for the new seat.
