Hello folks,

My name is Dan and I recently purchased a beautiful 85 K100rs with just 59,000 miles on her. I have been a biker my entire 50 year life. This is my first BMW and now I wish I would have purchased one or two many decades ago.

I love it. I ride daily as the seasons in Wisconsin let me. My bikes are never put away for winter. I have a heated attached garage and roads permitting I ride each month of the year. I also have a custom built vtwin that gets equal road time.

I enjoy the recent post with all the pictures and details of his journey. Enjoying life is what life is about. Sharing the stories are essential for inspiring others. Thats all for now, ride safe.

I will take a recent one tomorrow. I ordered a black windshield ebay from Germany. I also ordered a smoke black Laminar Lip along with a black vent wing atop the stock windshields. My terminology is wrong for certain bit I found that one in Romania on ebay. With both wing and Lamineer Lip installed it now throws the wind over the top of my 6’3” body.

I also purchased a newer used seat with back rest and the newer rear tail section fiberglass to fit the newer seat, as 85’s were all by themselves on seat design.
After a short ride with newer seat and rear tail section, I put the stock 85 seat and tail-section back on as the seat height is greatly lower. I was not fond of the wind in my face… so I have a 86 and newer seat and tail section that is white available if someone is in need. I will post pics in the sales section at a later date.

Enjoying it greatly.

Yes indeed it does draw a crowd and questions. Punisher is my road name in Motorcycle Club. It says that on all of my vehicles and I have my entire back with a Punisher Skull tattoo. I earned that name a decade ago while prospecting for the club.

I have a Laminar Lip mounted just about as high up as it will go on the stock fairing. I'm 6'. While it doesn't get rid of all the turbulence, and thereby the associated wind noise, it is definitely an improvement. I do consider it to be a worthwhile purchase.

I totally agree about the Laminar Lip being helpful. I as well mounted it as high as possible.

Even standard the early K100RS seems to attract a lot of attention.

I do need to get at the screen though, air flow is not as I might like it.

What do you have attached to the top of the stock fairing? I can't quite make it out from the profile view.

Atop my windshield… the black piece is called a Laminar Lip. It gives me just enough height that the wind is going over the top of my head and not hitting me in the face. I believe it cost me just about $130-150 from in the USA. I will try and find you the link if interested. Like I said my 6’3” body needed a taller windscreen. After quite a bit of shopping I ran across a forum where a gentleman recommended I try one… it solved my problem. It is held on with the strongest velcro circle stickers I have ever seen. It holds true even at triple digits.
