Well got back from Bike Week in Laconia, N.H. and was inspired to start this project.  I've been thinking on this awhile and I finally pulled the trigger on it last night.  This will be the first time on a BMW.  I've had the bike for 13 years and bought it from the original owner in Lake Whales, Florida.  Lot of good fun miles on this bike and I'm 58 yo and its now time for a change.  It's probably sacrilege but I will retain all the parts  and wont modify anything that cant be un-done if I feel I want to go back after I retire.  Wish me luck!K100 cafe project start Img_1210

Dismantling the nicest and most desirable K100 serie to comply with a yet faded artificial fashion...

You don't need luck but wisdom.

The seat in the second photo looks like that bike has already been living in "cafe land"* for quite a while.

Heavens to Mergatroid a perfect desirable blue and white special. Oh dear. So is the second pic of a frost or dust on that special bike. Am yet to see a Cafe bike with a rack on the back and I always thought chrome back there would be good. Will look forward to the new Cafe Bike coming out of that delicious rs.

Glad to see you keeping all the parts so that you can change back if you decide to.

Can you tell me what brands the small tank bag and seat are?

Can't help you on the tank bag but that seat sure looks like a Corbin. Very comfortable!

Here you go. A 1988 K100RS SE. Not cheap but clearly people have the money for it.
