Hello & good evening,

Wanted to ask before ripping apart that the regulator on a early model K75 (lower amp alternator) can be changed without removing whole unit? Just the 2 screws and pull out and insert new one?

Noticed it’s not creating charge at idle to the battery, have read around that some people have had charge after 2500rpm due to worn regulator or brushes, haven’t tried this yet I’ll check tomorrow.

Found this regulator online, any Aussies recommended anything else locally?

Cheers,
Phil

It's a Bosch regulator brush assembly, common to some cars. I pulled mine out and took to a local auto electrical store and they ordered me a new one which took 2 days to arrive. The young guy didn't have a clue the owner took one look at it and rattled out the part number. I might have an old one that has a part no, I'll have a look tomorrow.
Regards Martin.

This is what I came up with BMW Hella part number 12311286073. Transpo non OEM part number IB35?-A1-14417-12V. If I substituted the illegible part number ? which could be either a 0,6,8,9 with a 0 it shows one that looks like the BMW Hella one. The IB350 and the IB351 are interchangeable. You need to show this information along with the brush assembly to your local auto electrician. This is what I came up with BMW Hella part number 12311286073.
Regards Martin.

I took the part number supplied by EME, dropped it into Google and came up with this possibly useful site which I hadn't visited previously.
