Sad Sack K1200R Followed Me Home - Page 4 112350 So good to see you really enjoying your two wheels so much. I would be freezing in that kind of weather, although have done quite a bit, but don't have all the cold weather gear that you have. My bricks also don't have heated grips.

If I wasn't just riding locally for fun in the past it was daily commuting in this type of weather.
A former colleague from Upstate New York but who's lived here a long while used to joke about a twice a year phone call from his mum back home.
January: "Hi Wayne, how's the weather?" "It's 50°(f) and raining, mom."
July: "Hi Wayne, how's the weather?" "You know, 50° and raining."

A slow news day on our favourite forum. Dateline: 2 January 2025, Lakewood,  Washington. Title: Garage time.

Given the perpetual "Rain Festival" of the Pacific North West, heated handgrips or not, it helps to have a bit of wind blocking going on.

I had these BMW handguards on the bike before, when it still used the original flat, clip-on style handlebars, now replaced by an LSL fatbar kit with "upper triple clamp" - but not really since it doesn't have a traditional three stem "fork." They came from a mid-2000s R1200GS, a now discontinued part. I had to fab a few pieces to get them to align in a plane with the bar ends and mount point at the mirror base, but they're quite sturdy and offer ample protection. Full lock to lock shows they're well clear of the aftermarket WRS windscreen, too.

Sometimes it's hard to beat an afternoon in the garage/workshop just tinkering. Sometimes it's even productive - I fixed a pair of floppy mirror pods (as in loose mirrors) yesterday.

Therapy. Radio Paradise playing mid-level subsonic on a Flip3 speaker. Garage door thrown up because it's pushing 6.5/43° even tho' that constant drizzle is living up to its reputation. Woodstove in the front room is glowing for when I eventually creep back indoors to my favourite armchair. Gin & tonic sitting on a three legged stool within easy reach. Tools laid out, sorted. Today did not suck very much at all.

My dad used to say: "Der Mensch ist ein gewohnheits Tier". I am so used to sunshine that your kind of weather would get me depressed. I would not be able to adjust. The daily commuting takes some doing to... getting all dressed up and out and then again going home, spending so much time "tinkering" with trying to keep the bike clean. Public transport ...... ? I am amazed how clean your bike is looking with that kind of weather, but I suppose you don't have so much dust and dirt on your roads.

The hand shields make a big difference and that is standard on the RS, with warm air diverted from the radiator.

Enjoy your favorite arm chair and GnT.  Very Happy

In actual fact we enjoy rather beautiful weather from May through October. It's merely a ruse we use about the intolerable and incessant wet round here, designed to keep the Californians from relocating here, or so I hear from the locals.
