I am John, from Matthews NC. Present ride is a 1995 K1100RS. Also have a 1996 K1100RS which will need a little going over and to which I'd like to attach a sidecar if and when I can find a reasonable one. Presently working, sporadically, on a 1990 K100 which started off as an LT but was cut by a prior owners son in a poorly executed attempt to make it into a "cafe racer". The 1995 K1100 I got for 'free', with the intent that I would re work the K100 for its owner. Frame has been reworked, original tail cowl repositioned and battery moved into it. Single seat pan and foam padding made and covered and Motronic moved under it. Tank stripped and a huge amount of filler and large dent successfully removed. Have sourced a complete 1980's K100 Base Model radiator shroud and side covers and a 1970's R90S Fairing and Windshield and a R1200C chromed round headlight. Just need to sit down and finish all the little things. Lots of questionable looking Cafe efforts out there, not looking to reinvent the wheel or anything like that. Just re-imagining BMW styling and trying to tastefully blend in styling cues from different decades. It should end up like an 'old guys cafe racer', comfortable to ride and essentially a mildly re-styled K100.

Welcome!

With regard to "cafe styling", it sounds like your head is in the right place.  Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.
