I hope you guys are doing great!
As for why I am here.. My dad had purchased a bike (BMW R1150R 2002) two years ago and for a those two years we were driving the bike a lot. I mean it. Almost every weekend and the bike is his daily driver, even in early spring or late autumn. I was always a passenger and I really enjoyed it. Probably around 30k km put on the clock.
He is so enthusiastic because he had a license from his early twenties, yet he never had a bike since he had a family to raise. After almost thirty years the first motorcycle came into our family. He completely changed after. In a positive way, of course.
So here I am. Got into bikes because of my lovely dad.
One day we went to see a BMW K100RS which we stumbled across on the marketplace. We drove to see it on his BMW R1250R and we could not miss out on the purchase. Of course it had some flaws, but it was such a beauty. Dad looked at me and said that I have to ride it back home. I was stressed out yet confident. No experience. Nothing. Just his jacket and my helmet. Since I drive a car very well and I have a great feeling with mechanics, for example, the clutch. I sat on the bike and rode for the first time myself. It was a gravel road. Started slowly then proceeded to increase the speed. The feeling, I just cannot explain in words how good I felt. My dad was waiting behind at the house where we brought it from, at I wanted to make my first U turn. Suddenly the euphoria kicked out and I understood what a machine it is. I felt scared, how will I manage this? It felt so difficult to turn it. That's the moment when I realized that I have things to learn. I have always been a responsible driver but that made me extra cautious.
We drove around the city and It was scary. Really scary. All the cars, trying to feel the bike, making wide turns. It was an experience. Later that day, we got on the highway and drove a lot. Started to get more confident and I felt the bike really well. Still the wide turns, of course, but a slow throttle and the feel from the bike was spot on. I think that is because I drove as a passenger for those two years and it made me have a feeling of how to manage a bike. After a full day of riding we came back home and so it was one of my best days in my life. We drove for the next day as well, which started scary and ended up really well. It was great!
After the weekend my nails were itching. I wanted to ride again and again. During my lunch break (I work remotely) I would wash the bike, sit on it and just stare at it. But I have no license and since dad is teaching me, I am riding together with him.
Thanks dad for getting me into bikes.
