I've just got my K75C going again but the blinkers seem to be operating very slowly. Basically, when I first turn them on (either side) they light up for about 5 seconds before starting to blink. Even when they are blinking they seem very slow to me. I did note that once they had been used, the 5 second delay doesnt happen - still slow though.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening? I did check the bulbs and they are the correct wattage (21w). Battery is new and reads around 12.6V, alternator is charging at around 13.6-13.8v at ~2000rpm and above.

Have you checked the blinker fluid level recently?

Probably not the recommended fluid but at least it will stop the blinker fluid pump cavitating.

Have come across this problem previously but it was on a borrowed moto at the time.

Someone will come across with the correct (non-liquid) solution soon.

Sounds to me Phil that the blinker control relay is the problem. If there are any bad connections anywhere in the blinker circuits then they speed up. I may have one here  I'll have a scout around.

I noticed today that the lag time for them to start blinking is getting much less. Maybe its just lack of use or dirty connections. I'll pull the blinker unit out when I get a chance and clean it up. It could be 10 years since this thing has run. It was completely dead electrically when I got it.

Sometimes blinker issues occur if you don't use OEM blinker fluid. Third party blinker fluid often does not comply with BMW specs.

OR

Blinker gremlins are sometimes caused by a dirty starter. How many miles(kms) on the bike?

Speedo says 85k kms. Could be true.

Blinking is gradually increasing and is now up to ~50 blinks/minute and almost no lag time at the start - I'm not sure what it should be but maybe still a bit slow. I think I'll leave it be for the time being and see what happens.

Just keep in mind your blinker rate won't keep you from being busted by the law if you're riding navasana, unless that's normal. Smile

Here it is.  Just for those sceptics out there who had trouble locating some.  Comes in a super sized 16 oz. container, so you won't run out.  Get's you back on the road in no time.

There is even an instructional video in the attached link at the bottom.  Well worth watching for you to fully comprehend it's installation and use.

Oh, and for all you with coffee'd racers, it's LED compatible!
