I recently just picked up a k1100 instrument cluster, and was wondering if it would work on a 87 k100 2v? Has anyone tried this? Is there a reason I shouldn't?

No idea, but the only danger that I can see is if the pins that carry power are not in the same place. You could fry something otherwise.

A BIG BUT is that you have to take risk of crewing up something.

They're all the same. Minor differences (4 and 7 ltr warning lights instead of 5). Early models had flat pins, later ones had round ones. Further some internal mods re preventing vibration of internal connectors, but in principle they can be interchanged.

That's a good thing to know. But if you do it please let us know if it's simply a matter of swapping a few connectors around, and if anything melts down too. I know of a clean, low km K1100RS cluster to replace my aging and fatigued unit. Ta.

I bought a second hand instrument cluster of K100LT 1990.

I dismantle it and use the speedo unit to replace my damage speedo gears. I also use the gear LCD indicator to replace my old one.

Now the speedo and the LCD gear indicator run well.

Cheers.
