Hello guys, it's Marco from Italy. next day I'm gonna buy a K100 16V café racer (year 1990) fully modified, price circa USD 4.500 and I would share this special moment with you...
What are the critical points to check before completing the purchase?
Thanks in advance...

Pay huge attention to any modification made. Absolutely avoid any alteration made to the frame and the electrical system. No one will help you when it will fail - and it will.
99% of these so-called racer are made by unskilled wannabe makers with unadequate parts on an unadapted worn out basis with no deep overhauling made before.
Big rear wheel? It won't be inline with the frame.
Big front fork? You won't be able to U turn on a 4 way road because of the poor clearance.
New dashboard with a lot of leds but no charging system idiot light? It will never charge the battery.
Short shiny loud exhaust? Without equal lenght pipes it won't be possible to balance each cylinder.

Plus all the basic usual critical checks: no oil leak in the hole under the clutch case.
No oil or water leak under the oil pump at the evacuation hole.
No fluid leak or tracks on the paint at the front master cylinder (fragile, expensive)
Inspect into the fuel tank after removing the cap (4 screws): no corrosion, no depots, no cracks in the fuel lines, no deformation oe inflating of the fuel pump damper.

4500$?
Come on...choose a number to remove to the price!
Show us pictures...

- Get into a bright light and study the paintwork carefully. Does it look like the skin of an orange or is it like smooth glass? If it looks even slightly like the skin of an orange, the paint hasn't been applied/finished properly.
- Check under the front of the engine for a tiny smear of oil. If there is one, the water/oil pump seal may be leaking
- Ignore the mileage on the instruments because that can be changed. Ask for proof.
- Ask if the tappet clearances were done. If the answer is no, there is a possibility that the rest of the engine has not been properly inspected either.
- Ask if the clutch splines have been greased recently. If the answer is no, that's an engine-out job and must be done.

JBT is right. Unless the bike has come out of a recognised, well-respected workshop then U$4500 is too much.

Hello Marco, and welKome. Perhaps the intended moto was not up to expectation? Or even better than you imagined. Please let us know how it looked after your inspection.
