Hi Hunter K mob.

I'll be based at Shoal Bay for 25, 26 and 27 November.

Does that by any chance coincide with plans for a Loffee gathering?

Bill

Bill, what a great idea. We'll be returning from the land of the long white cloud on Wed 27th Nov in the evening so that leaves me out. But I am sure there will be a few Hunter Kronies interested in meeting up for Loffee.Cheers Tom

Lucky for you ???   I don't have any commitments in the diary for those days (but there's always things to be done that can be postponed).

I'll prompt the Loffee convenor to get himself onto the forum and plan something. Might be a good opportunity for those of us up the valley to travel to the Port Stephens area for such an event. Do you have preferences for timing over those days?

Cheers

Anywhere in the general Newcastle/Hunter area will be closer than where I usually am, and after GG working and the garden demands of SWMBO, I'm only scheduling important events such as Loffee for that period.

Upshot: anywhere, anytime works for me. Smile

Lads!! I must admit to being v.remiss in the Loffee gatherings! This is the trigger that's required! Over the years we've had it at the Maitland Information Centre. I don't know if the cafe is still operating, as I've heard some rumours that the place is infested with white ants! But, I will make enquiries. Suggestions might include....Raymond Terrace, Medowie, Maitland, somewhere in Newcastle (lots of options there!).

DATE: Any of the three days mentioned are fine with me. But, I need to Biro it in on the social calendar, to set it in concrete. Pencil is no good. So, how about Wednesday, 27th November? That would be my first preference. Location and time to be advised!

Bring it on!! Bill, it would be great to see you, but I won't have the Megger, because it's still in Sydney, and I won't see Ben before then. I will put in an APB ASAP.

Rickmeister.

27th is great. Absence of megger no issue. I keep forgetting I own one because I seldom have need of it.  Smile

Will you allow an old bloke from a little further north to join you old blokes there? The 27th is good for me.

If a bloke from this far south can join, I can't see why a bit north would be a problem.  Smile

Lads, after much cerebral cogitation and head scratching, I have decided that a nice venue would be Mortels, sheepskin things and Ugh Boots. The cafe there is v.nice, reasonable selection of goodies and nice coffee.

So, address of Mortels is:

1 Weakleys Drive,
THORNTON, NSW 2322.

It's right at the VERY END of the M1 and then Weakleys Drive if you were driving North from Sydney, going STRAIGHT AHEAD. Google Maps will have it.

Wednesday, 27th November, 10:00 am.

See youse  there!

Rickmeister

Stan and others....Exit from the highway to Raymond Terrace, (Use all this in conjunction with Google Maps!!) At the bottom of the exit slip road, turn right onto Richardson Road, underneath the motorway, towards RT. At the 2nd roundabout, turn left onto the Pacific Hwy. At 2nd set of lights, turn right. Maccas will be on your left after the turn. Straight ahead, over the Williams River bridge and then left onto Raymond Terrace road, towards Maitland.

At Thornton, there is major roadworks. Go straight ahead, and after the next lights, about 400m after the lights, turn left into Hausmann. (Government Road is closed to traffic turning left, earlier)

Follow Hausmann all the way to the next lights. Turn right, over the railway line, then after about 1Km, turn left at the next roundabout. After a couple of hundred metres, turn right (towards Sydney) at the roundabout. Mortels is immediately on your left, #1 Weakleys Drive. Keep left after about 100m, turn into a driveway, then left into their car park.

You have arrived at your destination!

Does your gun safe have a shanghai in it?  Wink Your 45 cal muzzle loader balls would be quite effective.

Sorry I missed the Loffee catchup but did not arrive home from NZ until Thurs 28th about lunchtime.
Glad you all sorted out the world's problems etc. Our visit to the land of the long white cloud was excellent and if we go again it will be to the North Island. BTW, the Kiwis brew some really good beer.
Cheers Tom

A correction on the translation of Aotearoa is warranted. Land of the long white cloud, while being the common translation no longer passes muster and has been amended to Land of the slow white camper van, such is the proliferation of annoyingly slow tourists on arguably some of the finest motorcycle roads on the planet.

G'day KiwiK100,
I stand corrected and will refrain using the Long White Cloud title. Yes the slow white camper van is a very apt description of your country and we have just returned from a tour of the South Island in one SWC. Some drivers were slower than us but we tried to show common courtesy by allowing traffic behind us to pass whenever possible.
I certainly agree that NZ has fantastic roads for motorcycling having done two tours of the South Island in recent years. Fantastic riding. Maybe planning a next trip to the North Island. Cheers Tom
