I've changed bulbs several times on my '87 K100RS but yesterday's adventure was tedious and my memory isn't what it used to be. I pulled the plug off of the back and then pulled the boot off to the left. Somehow the retaining clip came off in the process.
After trying the same things over and over, I couldn't remember how it worked.
Drake Smith to the rescue!

Headlight bulb replacement '87 K100RS Hlh4.c17

I also recommend putting some silicone grease on the portion of the rubber boot that slides over the bulb shank and should have also put a smear around the boot's inner rubber edge.

Now I have a nice LED installed.

Good tip on the silicone grease, Glenn! That’ll make future replacements smoother thanks for sharing.

I redo the whole black boot with a coat of ArmorAll or 303.
