You don't say which K bike (model) you're working on. I suggest you go to your Profile and Signature (above in the index) and enter the year/model, and sometimes folks will note the last seven digits of the VIN for accuracy.
That said, try looking the end of the fuel rail behind the left side fairing panel. The lower cutout and the hole indicates it sits at the end of that just in front of the TPS.

In South Texas they went in the trash bin as we believed they stopped air flow and the dreaded boiling fuel in tank. Right or wrong, that's what we did.

Knee panel removed. It helps to direct hot engine air out the side vents, rather than allowing the fuel tank, knee panels, etc, to get hot.
Every now and then you read about a rider selling his brick cause it gets too hot. Knock on wood, my excellent memory tells me, truckloads of them from South Texas, dunno why.
