Hey I'm very new to motorcycles in general and have been struggling with wiring in general, I've been able to identify wires and all but when it comes to connecting them I have zero idea, I bought it used and the guy working on it took off the speed cluster and all the wires are just out, the photos below are the wires in question and the notebook is what (I think) I've identified so far, my main question is what do I connect to what???Wiring speedometer to BMW k100 Pxl_2010

Don't waste your time. Get rid of this chopped harness and buy a good used one.

I'm in agreement with JBT. I've been building/repairing wiring harnesses for well over forty years (including seven K100/K1100 ones at the last count) and IMO that one's beyond recovery. The biggest part of your problem is not so much identifying which wire does what, but trying to source the two terminal blocks that plug into the instrument housing. I know of a supplier (Radio Spares) but you have to buy in bulk: ten terminal blocks and 100 female terminals is their minimum order. This thread:

https://www.k100-forum.com/t1617-connector-for-the-instruments-k75-k100

Can someone in North America point this gentleman to his nearest K100 breakers? All you need is the main loom: the fuel injection sub-loom should still be intact from what you say.

You've bought someone else's mess. After a coupla more posts you will have access to the technical section of the forum from where you can glean some useful information about wiring schematics for your K bike. But I'm in agreement with JBT and Dai, purchase a second hand loom from someplace like Beemerboneyard.com or from eBay, and go at it almost plug 'n' play. You really should get some edumucation on basic wiring, before you dive in, however.

Also, go to Profile at the top of the page, then Signature, and enter the year and model of your bike so we all know what you're asking us about. There are sometimes subtle but sometimes vast differences between the years and models.

As far as finding replacement harnesses, Dadadadada, once you understand the model and year of your Brick, head over to eBay and see what's there.

Okay so judging by the replies I must completely replace the wiring, quick question though what's a loom?? And where would I go to learn how to do this, and the exact model and year is 1985 BMW k100

Loom = harness in 'Strine.

A wiring harness, also known as a cable harness, cable assembly, or wiring loom, is an assembly of electrical cables which transmit signals or electrical power.

Which model '85 K100? There's a standard, C, RS & RT. Give us the last seven digits of your VIN, or go to RealOem.com and enter them yourself for that information. Then post it as I suggested for future ease. It will thereafter appear on every post you make.

The chassis loom or harness for that particular model is BMW part number 61 11 1 459 556.
HERE is one that looks fairly unmolested from C3 Cycle Tech in Virginia on eBay. They're selling it with key AND ignition switch so that's a bonus - ignition switches are difficult to find when you need one, or use your original if it's still there.

Bite their arms off up to the elbows. That's a damn good price; even moreso as it includes an ignition switch. K-series ignition switches are a law unto themselves - you cannot buy an aftermarket replacement, so consequently an ignition switch on its own can - and does - command a price in the region of C$80 - C$110.
