I finally started tearing apart my 94 K75 and the first modification was to replace the turn signal bulbs with LEDs. Of course I got the dreaded hyperflash so followed Ducks’ tutorial on modifying the relay to eliminate the hyperflash. I already had the tank off so was able to access the relay box at the back under the tank. My relay box was the newer black one and no problem getting it out. For the life of me, i couldnt see a way to get inside it. It appeared to be seamless with no assembly cracks etc. So I contacted Duck and he said “attack it with a screwdriver”. So I started poking and prodding and turns out the end you can see in the picture is covered in a very thin film of rubber. It looks seamless but the rubber peeled right off. Duck said they usually have epoxy or goo on the end but those must be the ones that have already been opened. I assume this is what they look like when factory sealed. After peeling the rubber off, the pin connector with computer board slides right out. I completed Ducks reccommended steps and reassembled. Voila! No more hyperflash and my turnsignals are brilliant. Only downside is now I owe Duck 2 beers because I doubted him for a second.  Embarassed

Goodonya. I did a partial LED swapover (from Duck, ages ago) to my K100RS in OZ with excellent results, including taking his advice on how to remedy the rapid flash when I built Big Block.

I'm going to move this thread from Troubleshooting - Electrical to Parts, Accessories & Part Substitution because, well, that's what it is. Also, as an FNG, you'll need a few more posts before you can correctly upload images.

I'm going to do the LED turn signal, tail light and brake light upgrade during the winter. I think I'm going to sever the trace on the circuit board as that is easily correctable if someone wanted to reverse the mod. The Kisan SM-6 relay is $149.95 USD. I don't even want to think about what that currently is in CDN funds.

At the official exchange rate, it is currently $215.10...

I wouldn't bother with that fancy relay; the LEDs themselves should be enough. There's a limit to what can get a distracted driver's attention.

The Kisan SM-6 relay is a solution looking for a question. And, IMO, anything that needs connecting using Scotchloks should be banned outright. Scotchloks are EVIL.

I have SM-6s in several of my Ks and really like them. (I didn't pay retail.  Found them on Ebay for much less.)

Scotchloks are indeed a tool of Satan. I use Posi-Taps instead.

I used the SM-5 in my long-gone R1150RT. It was a simple plug'n'play of the stock turn signal relay and could be adjusted using the turn indicator flippers on either handlebar combo switch. I was riding the four corners of the US back in late 2012 - Hurricane Sandy was happening - and was leaving Massatucky, going into Connecticut when a state trooper pulled me over for having amber "running" lights at the back. He wrote only a warning ticket because I could switch them off. As most know, the Kisan modules allow for varied brightness of the four turn signal lenses as running lights, not legal in many jurisdictions since amber is meant to be a forward-facing light only. The timed turn off of the turn signals is an added bonus.

I sold them at the three Beemer shops I was the parts manager of and rarely had one come back as defective. They were barely US$89 in them thar days.

The only reason I am not going with the SM-6 is solely due to cost as I'd rather not cut the trace. But it is easily reversed by soldering in a bit of wire or a blob of solder. Now to find affordable LED replacements.

Thank you. Ali Express it is. They're not even close to that price at Cdn Tire.

As a dual citizen, I'm sure you're aware that turn signals are mandatory in OZ but optional in the US.

You can not improve other driver's attention.
Only them can.
It depends only of the observer and its will, training, habits, awareness, etc. It never depends of the target.
But let's people believe they can be more visible by adding lights, leds, fluo gear...it's useless for security, or even detrimental but it's good for business.

If someone is looking at their phone then you are right. However, if someone is remotely paying attention then good/bright lighting can grab their attention and make a difference. Many of my Ks have 70W really weird orange colored fork mounted lights and they make a very noticeable difference in conspicuity. I do still ride like I am invisible though.

So, I'm trying to buy these LED's from Ali Express. I can't find the red one for the tail light that has the 12 3030 LED's on it. When I try to purchase the amber turn signal LED's, there is a Max. 1 pcs/shopper, which means I can only buy one 2-pack. Is there a work-around for that other than placing a second order?

I think I'll try my luck over at Amazon even though I'll pay more.
