I write with a heavy heart, today a stranger came and took her away. I checked out her new environment, I'm confident she will be well cared for in a good home. 48,000 Km's in 4 1/2 years, lots 2-up and loaded with gear. Never once did she refuse duty, and we were at times in some remote areas. Time to move on, but I can attest the reliability of the K100RT, a fine example of German engineering, ever capable of embarassing bikes with so called classy pedigrees. Mine had 173,200 Km's on the clock and still ran faultlessly. The new owner went for a 10 minute test ride and came back, looked at me and asked me how I intended to get home !
I intend to remain active on this forum as I believe the K12 is still a close derivative of the K100. Bert can kick me off when he's ready.
Long live the mighty K. Dennis

Truely a sad day when we have to part with one who we have loved and laughed with. Memories fade to make way for new adventures. Look forward to your input to my future ignorant questions.

Thanks Dave, but yours or anyone elses questions are never ignorant. We all need to learn and part of that learning requires everone to ask questions. Never a problem, I ask heaps myself, always have done. I'll be continuing to visit here, hopefully to help others, but also to seek advice, and I'm certain the answers will continue to come through, that's what makes it a great forum.
Best regards, Dennis.

Cool

Sad day indeed Dennis, but we all have go forward at some time and we will still look forward to your input and stories about the K1200 which will probably be a few of our future bikes as well, but its the people that make the forum keep in touch mate.

Happy and sad Dennis. You certainly picked a good replacement and we'll be looking forward to your posting your experiences with the 12!
