Welcome to the forum hot seat.

What you most likely are seeing is the tank surround that comes with the low seat models and also replaces the side covers as well unfortunately they don't fit on the standard seat model.

hot-seat,

Yes it can be done. You need "know how" and it can be a pain.

My bike has the low seat now and it is changable to high seat with the side panels. You lose the toolbox and the hinged seat and both then locate at the rear with hooks and eyes. The front base needs a wood block with a loop to pick up on the release hook.

In earlier posts from me it covers this with pictures. If still interested I will take more pix ...but.....leave well alone. it can be a big pain.

I have the choice of low seat with the black surrounds/ high seat with the black surrounds/ or high seat with the side panels. You still lose the toolbox.

Ajays.

Thanks for the posts guys, this certainly is a helpfull site ,ive had my girl for 18 years now riding to work and back every day without fail summer and winter and the only prob i had was a leaky oil pump seal (easy fix) other than that regular oil change and every year or so give her a real tret with spark plugs (although my K knock in the damper rubbers on the final motor output shaft is getting worse, which alot of you know Doh the whole shotting box neads to come out unless you know some keyhole surgery,i think i will wait till the final rivet drops into the sump and lose my drive, pushing her will not be pleasant ,,any of you guys have a link to guide me through this operation with less pain as usual any comments will help many K lovers
