Hello all
I have an annoying problem (apart from the mother in law, that's fixable).
My center stand doesn't seem to connect with the rubber bumper underneath the exhaust pipe. I out a new bumper one on, but neither the side stand or center stand seem to sit on it. The problem is a "clunk" from below when I go over a bump or around left hand corners with my knee on the road. (That is a joke if you have seen me ride). The stand hits the lower side of my exhaust.
Any solutions? I cannot see any way to adjust the stand/s to move them sideways. The noise is worse double up when the suspension is asked to work on bumps or corners. I thought I could put an old rubber shoe sole down there, but might not look so good. Or smell so good.

I am thinking that maybe your muffler is not pushed far enough onto the header pipes but if that were the case the rear bracket wouldn't line up.

And I presume the stand lifts high enough, so it hasn't been shortened. The stand on my K100 used to make noises in corners due to the springs being weak and bumps making it flap down, that was fixed with newer and better springs.

Ah so, I think that is the solution. Seems to not go up quickly when I come down off the center stand, I usually have to kick it up a bit. Tks K Freak,
hope it's warming up for you mate, it's not down here.

Its about 12 deg here today but as usual with a south westerly it just goes straight through you. I have been rubbing back the panels of the K11 and my hands were so cold I gave it away then after lunch started again using warm water but it only stays warm for 20 mins. The good news is I have got rid of the cast on my left arm so working on the bike is a bit easier but I was told no riding for a while yet but what he doesn't know won't hurt.

RT,

Sounds like springs as Kfreak pointed out. Are you certain you have both attached? Check to make sure that there are two springs attached to the centre stand. If you lost one, then you'd get the symptoms you're talking about -- clunking when riding over bumps and having to push the kickstand into place. If both springs are there, then they are probably weak adn need replacing. Also, clean and lubricate the pivots; the pivot bushings get exposed to alot of road grime and should be maintained regularly.

Tks everyone
new springs in (learnt a few new swear words there) seemed about a centimeter shorter than the old ones. Also found lots of loosness in the two swing pivot bolts, so cleaned and tightened them (Tip, if you ever take your muffler clamps off, make sure one is not in front of the centre stand pivot bolt when you do it back up). Seems like problem solved.
AND in the middle of me grovelling on the ground, my sweet mother-in-law (about whom I often mention my fondness), asked if there was some kind of table to get the bike up that she could buy for my birthday.
Sweet old girl. I now have Hydraulic bike lifter table, and found room for it right outside her door. Mind the hose Ma, and don't put your head under there without the safety bar in. MMMMMM.

Learned a new trick about springs and how to put them on places like the centre stand.

Arch the spring over and put small washers in between the coils then do the other side as well, this expands the spring and you can put it on then remove the washers with pliers and its on. Now whats this bull about old dogs.

What, you fellers don't have of these in yer tool box? It serves two purposes. One, for stretching springs without having to use too much exertion (we must save our strength for surviving mothers-in-law) Two, so you can pull yer brains out through yer nose if'n the mother-in-law just becomes too much. Hey, maybe you can pull her brains out through her nose. I'm lucky, I gave away my mother-in-law when I gave away my ex-wife.

use your old spring to pull the new spring into position, it,s a cheaper version of TWB's brain puller.
