G'day all , happy nailing Jesus to a tree season (don't get me started on that )
The rear disk on the RT is getting a bit narrow. i don't have a micrometer but the lip tells me it is an original ( solid , no slots)
Does any one from here have any info on the rear disk , can i use an old abs disk for my non abs bike (do you have one , can i buy it from you etc etc)
OR . .. does anyone know about aftermarket disks and how much they should cost, i have seen prices from 150 to 600 Australian dollars
I saw one advertised as stainless steel , may have been the 600 dollar one , any one know the advantages , other than its resistance to stains ?
again happy this time of year , be safe and we shall reconvene on the other side.
N.

G'day Beanoldboy ,
when my fronts went under limit I decided on "Braking" brand , made in Italy , very good quality , you have to grind of the rivets & then very carefully punch them out ( too much force will distort the alloy carrier , I stuffed one up when doing mine ) it is the same part number for the rear I believe , the kit includes all the bolts etc , got better braking after they where bedded in . BM Motorcycles in Melbourne can give you a price , another option is EBC , they have a replacement disc & carrier option , I'm now due to replace my rear as well & I'm going to try the EBC unit from Motoworks UK , they are saying 160 pounds plus postage .

Hope this helps you

Resistance to stain and rust is the only advantage. Aa iron disc will give you much better braking but many people dont like the rusty film they get if left standing for a few weeks.
I put an EBC on my K1100. It's fully floating, has vent holes, is iron and is much better than OEM.
Metal gear who sell on ebay are at Narangbar just north of Brizvegas, they dont have a rear disc but I believe that the front and rear disc are the same rivet pattern and only the carrier is different. Most of the after market discs have provision for the ABS ring, they aren't difficult to change.
If they are resisting comming of the old carrier a bit of heat usually expands them enough to fall off.
If you buy used one be very cautious as they very quickly wear to below the limit. A K1100 is about 2mm thicker and is interchangeable.

thank you for the sharing of info , in light of news to hand , ie interchangeability of front and rear , ill get confirmation of this and buy one of the local aftermarket jobs , cheers again .
I reckon it would take me 20 years to acquire this depth of knowledge on k bikes , my favorite saying goes 'between the two of us we can get three times as much done'

I recently installed a K1100 rear disk on my K100.
The K1100 disk is thicker but still fit with the original caliper. I just had to remove the ABS crown.

thanks CF, i did entertain this, but as i am looking at a new disk there isn't much to be saved, think it might be a weekend wheel off full brake rebuild type affair, no point doing a half a job eh ?
