How I could get the charging system and starter to work, without the clocks on an 1984 K 100? Is there a way to bypass whatever's causing the starter and charging system to not work?

I`ve allready provided you a link about that under the topic "your own restauration".

You can use the solution in that thread for the starter interlock.....or just pull the clutch, to bypass.
The charging monitor lamp the charging circuit needs to function, if you don`t like it...hide it somewhere.

Well. I am a complete numpty with electrics. I was hoping that I could simply 'bridge' the wiring to make it work? If so which wires are they? I really am daft when it comes to electrics Embarassed .

If you want a easy solution, you can bridge the connector at pin 5 and 6.
Respectively a green/black and a black/green wire, but then the starter
would engage in whatever gear you have selected.

Or as earlier mentioned, just pull the clutch lever.

Speedy Inge, I was typing the same answer but you beat me by 1/2 second to post yours.
Why would you bypass such a great security feature like this one?

Takes more than that to annoy me, especially on a enjoyable place like this.

No, I wouldn`t have removed it.

There is a way to do what you want and it is fairly easy.
The fix for a neutral start is not so simple so you may just be easier to start by pulling the clutch in and that overrides the neutral start bit. What you need to do is hook up 3 relays in series so the neutral light comes on only when in neutral.
With regard to the charging the alternator needs the current flowing thru the red light to excite the fields to get it to start charging so you need to replace the red light with an other light or similar. Pin 9 on the multi pin connector on the instrument cluster is the charging light circuit so a 3 watt bulb on that to earth will do the job. Also Acewell make an aftermarket cluster that will fit the K100 but you still need to do some wiring mods to make it work. http://www.acewell.co.uk/ have a look they are fairly good stuff.
