My grips are the original heated grips and they are hard as a rock.
I need to replace them with something softer and to dampen vibration...
Can I remove these and put on foam or new rubber?, or is the heating element INSIDE these rubber grips?
They are grey with ribs in them.
I feel tons of vibration thru them...
Any advice is much appreciated.
Eric

Easiest solution would be to get a pair of Grip puppies.

I've used them. They are not really very thick. If they were, I doubt many riders would want them as the grips would be too fat. They are closed foam sleeves that easily slip over the grips you now have. They will help with the vibes, I have no doubt.
Let me offer a tip. If you decide to use them, resist the temptation to cut the length any shorter. They can easily be scrunched up (tech term) to cover the existing grip without being excessively long.
My 1985 K100RS is very smooth. Maybe I'm just a lucky guy, having stumbled upon a sweet bike. However, I recommend you take the time to tune your bike, paying attention to balancing the throttle bodies. You may find a careful tune-up helps with the issue of annoying vibes.

OK, I got a pair and put them on...they seem pretty good. I haven't ridden yet. Sorry, I cut them before I read your post, lol. I will know better next time, but they seem to fit well. I used hairspray to put them on, and it worked well(then i did my hair after...haha) I will let you know how they feel. Thanks all for your help.
