Looking good, now the fun starts as you work through checking everything and replacing fluids and filters.

Has anyone else tried using Plastex plastic repair materials? I have been fixing all sorts of plastic parts for years including the sidecovers on my K100RT which actually had part of the tab that has the rubber gromit in it missing and I was able to build it up using Plastex. I will take some photos and post them. Plastex is made in the U.S.A. and the website is www.PLASTEX.net

Here are the photos of the sidecovers. The photo with the black top on the lug has been built up from nothing using the molding bar material and the other has the original lug re-attached. Sorry the quality is not better but I am using an old Kodak to take the photos and it doesn't do close up shots very well. I think you can buy a basic repair kit for around $30 aussie dollars and even though it doesn't look as though you get much for your money you can do a fair bit of repairing with it. The repairs are a lot neater than the photos show. You need a Dremel or similiar to prepare things, I am pretty sure there is a video on the Plastex website that shows you how to do it. The best thing is there is no heat involved like there is with plastic welding so there is no damage to paintwork. Funny you should mention the cable ties, if you look in one of the photos you can see a hole that I filled with Plastex. There used to be a cable tie through that to hold it on. You can buy Plastex online at www.racewear.com.au they are located on the Central Coast N.S.W. Kawasaki Newcastle did stock it at one time before they had the fire a few years back so maybe your local motorcycle shop can get it. Super Cheap sell a equivalent that a mate of mine uses and he has had good results fixing early Honda sidecovers which were made from a pretty brittle type of plastic so that might be worth looking at too. I don't know the brand name but the Super Cheap staff should be able to tell you.
