As the dust slowly settles on the next K trip and the Queensland government begin reconstruction after yet another "natural" disaster , I'm thinking about advancing the case for the tas treK perhaps in 2013?
First please checkout the tourist vid on youtube "Island state of mind by Dan Taylor "
(could some clever guy post the link please?)
Secondly , while I'm happy to do most of the legwork I propose a meet up with interested tassie guys (Dennis, Bushy others ?) for an ideas session so we get the best experience K ing the island. I am ok with riding to D'port area to meet up when it suits .
Thirdly , dates ? My preference is late march when i can arrange an interesting tour however earlier , even this year is possible .

Gordon

Bogans, two headed rellies and wheelie bin jokes aside, it's a beaut place to ride and have a good squiz at the scenery, some of it truly breathtaking (Wine Glass Bay at Freycinet, Liffy Falls, The Nut, Queenstown in its stark ex-mining harshness, the orange rocks of the north east coastline, Bicheno harbour, Port Arthur, Mt Wellington under ice and the mountains to the West, etc), and not much at all like the Big Island that sits just above across the treacherous stretch of water known as the Bass Strait. I lived there once upon a time from the mid '60s to early '70s. I've been back a few times. I'd go again. Count me in!

Excuse you! aren't two heads supposed to be better than one Laughing
March 2013 would be best for me. If the autum is as good there as in Victoria then it would be grear riding weather.

March April is always my advice to bikers i meet , a bit cooler so wearing what we need is comfortable when stopped , usually only a couple of days rain to expect . Other tassie guys may have other ideas?

Devonport is only 30 odd K's from home, see you when you disembark the big red taxi (Spirit of Tasmania).

OK men and ladies, let me know what you all need to find out and where we can meet to discuss and I'll be there. No K100 any more but I'm sure no-one will hold that against me. I'd like to tag along for some part of the trip if I can fit it in. 1 thing I do know is that on the Spirt of Tas you will all be needing to tie your bikes down with them on the side stand. The trick is to connect onto the frame where the tubes intersect in a vee just above the footpegs. I did it that way 10 times in total and my K100 never moved. You need to be assertive with the crew in order to get the point across. No pulling down on the handlebars, as we all know. You'll all love the roads here, well signed and under-populated for the most part. PM me or call me on 0428383676, cheers, Dennis.
