When I put an on-line ad for a K project, I also received this reply and now I'm thinking of looking into it.

If IF it is bearings John which I would doubt it could be a good buy depending on price. A k100 crank fits and a set of bearing shells and done. Sounds like its rattling because of poor idle with the cap missing.

I thought it was unlikely the bearings were gone myself.
If that were the case, how feasible is it to replace them without a complete strip down? That is, by removing the crankcase cover.
I'm assuming that he tightened the oil filler cap and its still making a noise. Maybe a loose engine breather hose?
I have contacted him to get an idea of how much he wants for it. Might be worth going for a look.

Pull the crankcase cover of and do the job just dont drop any bits as they dissappear into the innards and the sump will have to come off.
