From two days ago, trouble when starting the bike: when I give the contact with key and turn on/off switch on the right-side handlebar to ON, the fuel pump doesn't buzz immediately and I can't start the engine immediately, but have to turn the key and on/off switch a few times, until pump awakes & bike can be started. Dirty contacts on the fuel pump relay, on the key lock and/or on/off switch, or something else??? Advice needed... 😕

Regards
Tarik

Tarik, always check easier solution first. I think ingnition switch dirty, corroded, or both. Try with wd 40, check the connection from ign. swith to wiring loom, check the fuse, clean it. Clean start button too.

On a L-Jetronic equipped bike the fuel pump should start when you hit the starter button.
On a Motronic equipped bike the fuel pump should start when you switch on the ignition.

This is L-Jetronic, and sometimes (quite often now) it doesn't start, until I move on/off and contact key a few times...

But still, your fuel pump shouldn`t start untill you press the starter button.
Ignition switch Kill switch

Ignition switch Kill switch

Thanks - especially "Kill switch" ought to be useful. I somehow feel problem definitely isn't in ignition switch, because it seems it WORKS - after all, lights on instrument board do go on every time, even when engine wouldn't start.

Problem is - now very often the fuel pump doesn't start aftet I press the starter button after giving the contact with ignition key. So a few more switchings on/off are needed, before it buzzes after pressing starter button and starter starts the engine.

The fuel pump is new - installed just a month ago, and in the service shop they removed and installed back the relays too.
