I am new to your forum and to the K bike. I have always looked at the K as the "dark side" in BMW world. I recently came to own a 1989 K100rs in need of some repairs and tlc. I will be kind in saying this bike was not stored well. Long story short I decided to do away with the ABS brakes. That has all worked well and I rode the bike today for the first time. The ABS dash light stays on. Anyone know a good way to eliminate it?

Permanently on or flashing. If flashing it is ABS fault but permanently on it is a bulb fault from the bulb monitoring unit.
The ABS is fairly long lived but prone to stupid things being done. No don't ask. Embarassed

There is a bulb monitoring unit which tels you if the park, tail or stop light stop working and if one of those bulbs are out it will light the red light with the triangle. If there is an ABS fault the red light will flash when the ignition is on and kill switch is on. This is usually easy to fix.

Often caused due to a malfunctioning brake light switch.

The red triangle lights when the ignition is turned on, along with abs light, when the brakes are applied the red triangle goes off. The abs stays on. The running lights and brake light are working properly.

hey Inge, you do understand that I have removed all abs components. I have the bike set up with conventional brake system. I thought maybe someone knew an easy way to turn off abs dash light. Thanks.

In the electricals box under the tank there 4 small relays in the front right corner the ABS relay is the left rear of those 4 relays. From factory it was blue but it could have been replaced by a black one.
This should get rid of the light.
I understood that you were considering removing the ABS but had not as yet removed it.

Yes that is the relay I removed. I am surprised that the caution light comes on when engine is started then when brakes are applied (front and rear) goes off and stays off. The abs light stays on.

This is normal, ABS equipped bike or not.

This is a bit more unormal, if you have removed the correct relay.
The only function this relay got is to power the ABS warning lamp.

I would be inclined to remove the bulb from the instrument panel. The panel can be a bit awkward to get of but it comes apart very easily.
