I hope someone can shed some light on whether I have the wrong stand or the wrong exhaust. I have fitted a 1987 exhaust with a little adaptor bracket, but the side stand cannot retract as it fouls on the exhaust

Does the centre stand need to be dropped to make it clear, or is there something else I can do?

Appreciate any help as this is the second last thing to fix before it can go for a MOT the first in nearly 15 years

Ali

Since -85 and -87 silencer is different, I`ll guess it`s the homemade adaptor that is the problem.

The adaptor hasn't lowered the exhaust any it's a little closer to the engine I think by about 25mm

ali2908,
If it's just the springs that are fouling the exhaust pipe clamp, I'd be inclined to re-position the clamp.
Paul.

the stand hits the silencer, if i put spacers between the 4 bolts which hold the centre stand frame and the engine would that be safe?

Have never done a conversion like this.

But what would have done is to support the bike under the oil pan so both stands can be folded the rest position.

Then supported the silencer at the rear end, removed the adaptor.....moved the silencer to different positions and see if it`s possible for both to find a rest position in the rubber seat.......and then measured for an adaptor.

If ìt isn`t possible to find a good spot with both stands resting in the rubber seat, it could that you also must modify/move the bracket for the resting rubber.

Yes it would be safe, but it would mean a lot more effort to lift the bike onto the centre stand.

My LT has adaptors (and longer bolts) from factory since it has taller wheels than the RS.

I could just remove the side stand then no fouling problems.
